Vater der Welpen ist mein eigener Rüde Jai-Alai Jamali Loka Samsara. Dieser kräftige wunderschöne Rüde hat seinen Wirkungskreis bei meiner Tochter, wo er alles und jeden im Griff hat.
Samy had no complications during pregnancy or during the birth; only I had trouble keeping up with the mother, as she brought five puppies into the world within just 2.5 hours.
Um 0:02 Uhr kam die erste Hündin mit einem Gewicht von 82g zur Welt.
At 12:20 a.m., Lillifee Delicate Blossoms followed with a weight of 151 grams.
At 1:20 a.m., the third female, Lollipop Sugar Baby, was born with a weight of 112 g.
At 1:35 a.m., the first boy saw the light of day, Lionheart A Twist in a Myth, weighing 150 g.
At 2:35 a.m., the last puppy was born—Look in a Future—with a weight of 142 g.
On the first day everything went according to plan and Samy took wonderful care of her little family. As always, during the first nights I slept next to the whelping box on the couch. Already on the first night I was abruptly awakened by Samy, who jumped onto the couch with her firstborn in her mouth and tried to bury the little one under a pillow… Of course I did not allow any discussion and immediately placed mother and puppy back into the whelping box! The same thing happened again early the next morning. At that time I had a webcam above the whelping box that could also be accessed from outside, and my mother enjoyed watching what was happening in the box from time to time. The phone rang while I was preparing lunch and my mother, completely hysterical, shouted that I should immediately check on the puppies—Samy was about to kill one of them… The whelping box and the stove were about ten meters apart, and I was there immediately. Samy had her firstborn in her mouth and was trying to suffocate it. Of course I immediately took the puppy away from her and from that moment on hand-raised her—feeding every two hours and so on. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, the constant support of my veterinarian, and many tears, the little one did not survive. Chouchou, as we had named her, passed away on June 17 around midnight. I would never have believed that a Shih Tzu—my Shih Tzu—could make such a decision and try to remove a non-viable puppy from the litter right from the beginning… 🐾
Zu dem Zeitpunkt hatte ich eine Webcam über der Wurfkiste die auch von Aussen zugänglich war und meine Mutter machte sich einen Spass daraus dem Treiben in der Kiste regelmässig zuzuschauen. Es klingelte das Telefon als ich gerade das Mittagessen am zubereiten war und eine völlig hysterische Mutter schrie ich solle sofort nach den Kleinen sehen, Samy würde eines töten….
Wurfkiste und Herd lagen etwa 10 Meter auseinander und ich war sofort vor Ort. Samsara hatte ihr Erstgeborenes im Maul und versuchte es zu ersticken!!! Natürlich habe ich ihr das Kleine sofort entzogen und ab da Handaufgezogen…. Das hieß alle 2 Std füttern usw. Leider wurden meine Bemühungen, trotz ständiger Begleitung meines Tierarztes und vielen Tränen nicht belohnt. Denn Chouchou, so hatten wir die Kleine getauft, verstarb am 17.6. gegen Mitternacht.
Ich hätte nie gedacht dass ein Shih tzu, mein Shih tzu, solche Entscheidungen zu treffen vermag und ein nicht lebensfähiges Baby sofort am Anfang aus dem Wurf entfernen will…..
